Learn about the upcoming debut of Red Bull’s RB21 Formula 1 car, set to hit the track with Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson in Bahrain.

Mark your calendars! Red Bull is gearing up for the highly anticipated debut of its RB21 Formula 1 car, scheduled to hit the track at a filming day in Bahrain on Tuesday, February 25th. Motorsport.com has learned that this special event will mark not only the unveiling but also the first driving session with reigning world champion Max Verstappen and new team member Liam Lawson behind the wheel of the RB21 before their official Red Bull debut at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain later on.

Launch Event Details

As per updated FIA regulations, teams are allowed to complete up to 200km using Pirelli demonstration tyres during launch events like this one. Last year’s filming day was held at Silverstone and affected by rain; however, it is yet unclear how the weather will impact this year’s event in Bahrain.

Red Bull Opts for London Event

Red Bull has confirmed that they are foregoing their own launch event for 2025, opting instead to reveal their new livery alongside other teams at F1’s historic London O2 Arena event on February 18th as part of the celebration marking Formula 1’s 75th anniversary. This decision means several outfits such as Mercedes and now Red Bull will head straight for Bahrain for testing before unveiling their actual car designs, while others like Ferrari and Williams are set to host their own launches first.

Team Boss’ Optimism

Speaking at the Autosport Awards on Wednesday, team boss Christian Horner expressed his optimism about this year’s competition: “I think it’s going to be super tight,” he said. He added, “But McLaren are going to be strong too – so is Ferrari.”

Addressing Balance Issues

The RB21 aims to address balance issues from its predecessor’s campaign which hampered much of last year’s racing efforts. This time around, as per Horner, Red Bull will face a development programme balanced with work on the all-new 2026 regulations – highlighting their commitment towards staying competitive for years ahead despite ongoing challenges in Formula 1.
