Alpine’s 2025 Restructuring: A New Era for the Racing Giant

The winter of 2024-2025 brought significant changes to the Alpine Formula 1 team. With new additions like Richard Lockwood as sporting and strategy director and Dave Greenwood as racing director, the French team is gearing up for a fresh start. Greenwood, with his extensive experience from Renault, Ferrari, United Autosports, and Hitech, joins the team ready to make an impact.

The Arrival of Alpine Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore

Speaking about the off-season changes and his experience working with Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore, Team Principal Oliver Oakes shared his thoughts with Sky Sports F1: “There’s a lot of Flav [Flavio Briatore] on my shoulders,” he says with a laugh. “No, it’s been really nice.” He continued, “It gives you a chance to regroup, to make some little steps forward, but also it doesn’t stop, does it?”

Despite the brief respite during the winter, the racing season quickly approaches. Bahrain is just around the corner, and the team is already back in action. Oakes expressed his delight about the new faces joining the team, including Dave Greenwood and Richard Lockwood, stating, “It’s always good to have good people join.”

Alpine’s Reserve Drivers: A Competitive Edge

The team has also expanded its roster with the addition of Kush Maini as their fourth reserve driver. Joining Franco Colapinto, Paul Aron, and Ryo Hirakawa, Maini is set to bring a fresh perspective to the Alpine Academy.

Supporting Jack Doohan: Navigating the Challenges of Rookiehood

Team Principal Oakes also addressed the impact of these changes on their new driver, Jack Doohan. He acknowledged that having multiple reserve drivers could potentially put pressure on rookie Doohan but expressed confidence in his performance: “He did a good job in Bahrain. He’s been very good out of the blocks, and I think you can see he’s getting a bit of confidence because it isn’t easy for the rookies.”

Oakes further explained that while early mistakes could put rookie drivers on the back foot, Doohan seems to be gaining confidence. The team is committed to supporting him through this challenging phase of his career.
