Zak Brown’s Dual Celebration Awaits at Indy 500

McLaren CEO Zak Brown is eagerly anticipating a double dose of celebration as he prepares for a swift transition from the glamour of Monaco to the thrill of Indianapolis. Despite remaining in Monaco throughout the race weekend, where Lando Norris clinched an impressive victory, Brown will miss the Indy 500 action for the first time in years.

A Perfect Weekend at Monaco Grand Prix

Overwhelmed by the success of Norris’ sixth career win and Oscar Piastri’s P3 finish, Brown couldn’t contain his excitement on the podium alongside his drivers. “It was almost a perfect weekend,” he told Sky Sports, moments before he was spotted parading around the paddock with a magnum bottle of Moët & Chandon.

With the Indy 500 set to commence just hours after the Monaco Grand Prix concluded, Brown will unfortunately miss the on-track action at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However, he’s optimistic about a “combination of champagne and milk” making his Sunday memorable.

McLaren’s Indy 500 Lineup

Pato O’Ward qualified on the front row for the 200-lap race, with teammates Christian Lundgaard in P8 and Nolan Siegel in P24. Kyle Larson, another member of the team’s four-driver lineup for the 500, is aiming for ‘the double’ by racing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 once the flag flies in Indianapolis.

While McLaren‘s F1 teammates will be offering their support from afar, Piastri has revealed he’ll be watching the famed IndyCar race “from his couch.” Norris, on the other hand, expressed immense respect for the drivers participating in the event. He noted that some of them could excel in Formula 1, particularly his former teammate, Robert Shwartzman, who qualified on pole.

Future Racing Aspirations

Leclerc shared Norris’ admiration, acknowledging the Indy 500 as a “crazy race” he would never attempt. However, there’s one race Leclerc dreams of participating in when his F1 career concludes – the Le Mans. In an intriguing revelation, the Monegasque disclosed his intention to race at Le Mans with his brother.

As the racing world gears up for another exciting chapter, Zak Brown is poised to experience a unique blend of emotions, hoping for a victorious Indy 500 and a well-deserved celebration in Monaco.
