2025 Season: Limited Upgrades for the Williams F1 Competitor

[Alex Albon Discusses Williams’ Impressive Beginning in the 2025 Formula 1 Season]

Thai racer Alex Albon is off to a fantastic start in the 2025 Formula 1 season, earning points at four out of five grands prix. The British squad, Williams, is currently experiencing its best start to an F1 season in nearly a decade, comfortably seated in fifth place in the constructors’ standings with 25 points under its belt. Albon himself has contributed 20 points to this total and achieved his best finish of fifth at the Australian Grand Prix.

[Albon’s Consistent Performance]

After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Albon expressed his thoughts on his consistent performance, saying, “I want to be realistic. I’ve always been consistent – if I’m being totally honest and possibly a bit egotistical about it. Our car has always been quite peaky, and my performances have been consistent since I joined Williams. It feels like that now because we have a consistent car every weekend, allowing me to deliver consistent performances.

Success in F1 can be fleeting, and Albon acknowledges the need for his team to fight for every point during the early stages of the 2025 season. The Grove squad is investing most of its resources into F1’s clean slate in 2026, making it unlikely that they will bring many upgrades to the track this year.

[Preparing for the Future]

Albon understands the need to be realistic about their current position and is aware of the challenges ahead. “We have to be quite realistic,” says Albon. “We don’t know what everyone’s doing in terms of priority for next year. We’ve gone off to a hot start, which kind of changes the dynamic of how well we want to do this season, or sacrifice next season.

[Competition Remains Tight]

Despite Williams‘ strong performance, Albon remains cautious of his rivals who may not be focusing solely on 2026. “We want to make a big step for next year,” Albon says. “Now is the time to score points, really. With a good start, we have to score points every weekend. We don’t know when the next midfield team is going to bring an upgrade and, when they do, that could be our run over.

A lot of teams haven’t bought an upgrade yet so far this year, and we’re making use of that,” Albon says. “Because of how closely grouped these first few races are, when you start with a good car in race one, you can carry that for a few races, which is why it’s so important.
