Brad Pitt’s Anticipated Film, Gridlock, Reveals Exciting New Trailer

The wait is finally over! A captivating trailer for Brad Pitt’s upcoming movie, titled Gridlock, has been unveiled. This high-octane drama revolves around the gripping tale of a former racing driver, Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt himself, who makes an unexpected comeback to the grid after years away following a devastating accident.

The Unconventional Protagonist and His Challenges

However, it quickly becomes apparent in the latest sneak peek that if this were reality, Hayes’ return to racing would be highly improbable. Javier Bardem, portraying the owner of a fictitious racing team, APXGP, describes Pitt’s character as a “man living in a van” and a “compulsive gambler.” Despite his past victories, such as winning the 24 Hours of Daytona, Hayes is far from the physical peak required of modern-day racers.

His teammate, rookie driver Joshua Pearce, voiced by Damson Idris, is less than thrilled about Hayes’ presence: “He’s old, he’s such a jerk,” Idris’ character remarks. The tension between the two is palpable, leading to numerous on-track collisions and off-track confrontations throughout the season.

Real-Life Racing Stars Lend Authenticity to Gridlock

Previous trailers have featured clips of real racing drivers, including a shot of Carlos Sainz during the starting grid at Silverstone and a collision with Esteban Ocon’s Alpine. While it remains to be seen how extensively these drivers will feature in the final cut, director Joseph Kosinski praised their cooperation.

“They’re all very charming, friendly…and they’ve achieved so much,” Kosinski shared with a select group of media outlets, including Motorsport.com. “When you say you’re making a movie, there’s always some hesitation, but when [the drivers] saw our commitment to authenticity and representing their sport accurately, they welcomed us.”

Working alongside Lewis Hamilton and other racing stars, who play themselves in the film, was an extraordinary experience for Kosinski. “Having them involved in the movie is truly remarkable,” he said. “Without their support, this film simply wouldn’t exist.”

Filming Challenges and Unique Approaches

Kosinski also discussed the unique challenges posed by filming in such a high-pressure environment. “We couldn’t shoot at the track during races, so we had to find brief windows of 10-15 minutes between practice and qualifying where Brad Pitt and Damson Idris would be ready, and the cars warmed up with hot tires,” he explained.

As soon as practice ended, cameras would already be rolling, and Kosinski would have to shoot scenes in these intense, short, high-speed windows. “I don’t think the crowd even realized that Brad Pitt was in the car,” he added.

Kosinski also highlighted the unique nature of filming on the grid before races, which he compared to a live stage play. “It was like performing in front of thousands of people while racing at 180 miles an hour,” he recalled.
