Toto Wolff’s Role Evolution within Mercedes

In a move that reflects his long-term vision, Wolff has been advocating for a structure within the team that would reduce the need for him and other colleagues to attend all races. He expressed this in 2023: “The aim is to build a future-proof structure, and it’s my responsibility to ensure the team’s continuity. I may not be attending 24 races in a few years; instead, I might limit my appearances to just 15.

Wolff has also voiced concerns about further expansion of the Formula 1 calendar. He explained last year: “We’ve reached our limit. People like me travel comfortably, but the mechanics who set up and dismantle the car are flying economy. The strain is evident on their faces; it cannot continue.
