Expert Analysis: F1 Fantasy Picks for Miami 2025
The 2025 Miami Grand Prix is just around the corner, and our expert analysts, Hannah Newman and Ed Hardy, are here to share their top picks for this exciting event. With the second sprint race of the season taking place, the stakes have never been higher! Let’s dive into their strategies and see who comes out on top.
Last Race Recap and Current Team Selections
In the last race in Saudi Arabia, Isack Hadjar, Oliver Bearman, Carlos Sainz, and Oscar Piastri were the most popular drivers among F1 Fantasy players. Despite being the fifth-most selected driver, Fernando Alonso is currently the lowest point scorer of the season. His teammate Lance Stroll ranks 18th in popularity, with Aston Martin making the cut in just 14% of selections.
However, Alonso’s reputation and past successes have kept him among the firm favorites. Despite sitting on negative points (-20), he retains the faith of a huge 31% of players. Do you have Alonso and are considering dropping him? Or does his drop in value make him more appealing as you pick your team for Miami?
Hannah Newman’s Picks
Hannah Newman, writer at Autosport and Bortolet’s Go!, has kept Piastri and McLaren in her team following their strong performance in Saudi Arabia. She also maintains Williams as her second constructor due to a positive upturn in performance for Sainz and Alex Albon’s promising results this season.
Despite keeping Williams, Hannah has chosen Albon over Sainz, citing his consistency this year as the reason for her decision. She had some funds to spare, so she switched Nico Hulkenberg out for Alonso in the hopes that the Aston Martin driver can improve on his 11th-placed finish in Saudi Arabia for his first points finish of the season.
Ed Hardy’s Picks
Ed Hardy, news editor at Autosport and Novorapid Racing, has had a challenging start to the season but managed to turn things around during the triple header. He cut his losses with Ferrari and replaced them with McLaren, swapped Alpine for Racing Bulls, and replaced Yuki Tsunoda with Hadjar. Piastri has been his captain all season, proving an invaluable asset.
With a winning formula in place, Ed plans to keep an unchanged line-up for Miami. He named his team Novorapid Racing, inspired by the insulin brand as he is a type one diabetic himself. Ed aims to make something of this late upturn in form and challenge last year’s standout performer, Norris.
