Stefano Domenicali Renews Contract with Formula One Management

Stefano Domenicali will continue his tenure as president and CEO of Formula One Management (FOM) for another five years, the commercial rights holder for the prestigious Formula 1 championship has announced.

Strong Growth Under Domenicali’s Leadership

Since taking the helm at FOM in early 2021, Domenicali has overseen a period of significant growth in fan interest and improved financial health for the series’ stakeholders, including the teams.

His leadership has been instrumental in driving the sport forward, making strides in audience engagement and financial stability.

Domenicali’s Tenure at FOM

Prior to his appointment at FOM, Domenicali served as the boss of the Ferrari Formula 1 team from 2008 to 2013. Afterwards, he joined Audi as vice president of new business initiatives in 2014 and later became chairman and CEO of Lamborghini.

Domenicali is the second FOM CEO appointed since Liberty Media took over as owner of F1’s commercial rights in 2017, following his predecessor, Chase Carey.

In a FOM statement, Domenicali expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and reiterated his commitment to serving the best interests of Formula 1 fans, who he considers the heartbeat of everything they do.

Future Plans with FOM

The FOM statement revealed that Domenicali will lead the championship through the 2029 season, which marks the introduction of new chassis and engine design regulations starting next year.

There had been speculation about Domenicali potentially leaving Formula 1 at the end of his previous contract, but FOM sources always indicated that this was unfounded. With Liberty Media’s new president and CEO, Derek Chang, expressing satisfaction with the current arrangement, Domenicali and his team will continue to operate as they had before.

In the same FOM statement, Chang expressed gratitude for Domenicali’s partnership and optimism about the continued success the F1 team can bring to the sport, its fans, partners, and shareholders.

Upcoming 2025 Formula 1 Season

The 2025 Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix – the first race in what is predicted by many observers to be a close and competitive campaign.

Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead, as Domenicali and his team continue to drive Formula 1 towards greater heights.
