Formula 1 Extends Miami Grand Prix Contract to 2041
Get ready for an unforgettable racing experience as Formula 1 (F1) has just signed a groundbreaking 10-year contract extension with the organizers of the Miami Grand Prix! This exciting news was announced on Friday, ahead of this weekend’s race.
A Decade of High-Speed Racing in Miami
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Tom Garfinkel, managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, shared the thrilling news. The Miami Grand Prix made its debut on the F1 calendar in 2022, joining the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Now, with the addition of the F1-run Las Vegas Grand Prix, Miami is a must-visit destination for racing enthusiasts.
This new agreement marks Miami as the race with the longest deal on the calendar, signaling its growing importance as F1 owner Liberty Media aims to capture the US market even further. “In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has become one of the most significant and spectacular events on our calendar,” Domenicali said.
The extension until 2041 is a strategic milestone that strengthens F1’s presence in America and deepens its bond with fans. “Our fan base in the United States is growing more passionate than ever before, and this long-term commitment allows us to continue innovating, investing in the fan experience, and making a significant impact across South Florida,” Garfinkel added.
Since its debut, the Miami Grand Prix has generated over US$1 billion in economic impact for the city. Last year, the event attracted 275,000 fans over the weekend as McLaren‘s Lando Norris claimed his maiden grand prix victory.
The Future of Racing in Miami
Garfinkel expressed his excitement about the extension, stating, “Securing a 10-year extension with Formula 1 through 2041 is an extraordinary milestone for all of us at South Florida Motorsports and a true testament to the hard work of our team, the strength of our partnerships, the support of our community, and the growth of the sport in the United States.
Garfinkel emphasized that this extension after only their third event speaks to the Miami Grand Prix’s commitment to delivering a world-class race experience that reflects the spirit of Miami – vibrant, inclusive, and culturally significant.
