Red Bull and Honda: A Decade-Long Journey in Formula 1
The end of the current Formula 1 season marks the conclusion of a decade-long partnership between Red Bull Racing and Honda. Despite initial plans to part ways, Honda has decided to extend its F1 journey with the Aston Martin team starting from 2026. However, Red Bull is set to honor this historic partnership by sporting a special livery during the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
The Successful Partnership: Six World Championships and Over 60 Race Wins
Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, has expressed his pride in the partnership, stating, “Honda is a great racing organization. We’ve had a wonderful relationship since they joined us in 2019.” The partnership has yielded six World Championships and over 60 race wins, making it Honda’s most successful Formula 1 partnership to date.
Horner continued, “Their passion, commitment, and product strength have been outstanding. I’m sure they’ll continue under the new regulations to provide competitive engines.” He also emphasized that while saying goodbye at the end of the year will be bittersweet, they’ll look back on this period with great pride.
The Future Awaits: Red Bull Powertrains Takes Center Stage
Horner provided an update on the progress of Red Bull Powertrains in February of this year. He stated, “They’re doing well. Behind the scenes, we’re working long hours and days at our Milton Keynes facility. But, we’re making good progress with the engine. In twelve months, it will be powering two Grand Prix teams.”
Red Bull Powertrains was a brand new company just four years ago. Today, it stands fully operational in a state-of-the-art factory, staffed and ready to take on the challenges of the future. Horner described the atmosphere as exciting, with a mix of anticipation and nervousness.
