Mick Schumacher’s Potential Formula 1 Comeback Discussed by Advisor Dirk Muller
Mick Schumacher, the highly-anticipated racing prodigy, is making waves once again as his newly appointed advisor, German racer Dirk Muller, shares insights about a potential return to Formula 1 (F1).
Schumacher’s F1 Journey and Recent Developments
In 2021, Schumacher signed with the Haas F1 team, sharing the track with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin. However, a change in dynamics led to Kevin Magnussen replacing Mazepin in 2022. Despite losing his seat with the American outfit at the end of the 2022 season, Schumacher continued his F1 journey as Mercedes‘ reserve driver in 2023 and 2024.
However, after venturing into the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2024, Schumacher decided to step away from Mercedes for 2025 to focus on his WEC efforts. Despite his temporary departure from F1, Schumacher has expressed his ambitions of returning to the sport he left behind.
Muller’s Role and Schumacher’s F1 Prospects
During an interview with Motorsport-Magazin, Muller discussed his new role and Schumacher’s potential F1 return: “I am at Mick’s side in an advisory capacity. Mick still has his team around him, and I am part of it. We got together last year – and now the timing is right. Mick is not only extremely talented but also a great person. I want to help wherever I can.
Muller further added, “He [Schumacher] has the determination to make his mark in the cut-throat world of F1. Today, Mick is much further along than he was when he entered in 2021. He’s not looking back, only forward. He’s gained so much expertise that he’s now in a different position than he was a few years ago when he entered Formula 1 as a Formula 2 champion.
Muller and Schumacher’s relationship dates back to the early 2000s when they met during one of Michael Schumacher’s football matches at home. Since then, Muller has been a silent supporter of Schumacher’s career, from karting to Formula 1.
I have always followed Mick’s stellar career from karting to Formula 1. We have been in contact before, but it was more in the background. I have a very keen interest in supporting Mick,” Muller concluded.
