Rumors circulated that Verstappen was on pace from the start, and when asked if he had beaten Norwegian racer Christian Krognes’ NLS GT3 lap record of 7m49.578s, the Dutchman confirmed it. “They asked me for a fake name, so I said let’s make it as German as we can,” Verstappen explained about his choice to run as Franz Hermann.
Verstappen clarified that the test was not about setting records but about helping Emil Frey prepare for a potential future entry and getting acquainted with the German circuit should he wish to participate in the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

Verstappen emphasized that Emil Frey was not familiar with the track before, and they were fortunate with the weather conditions during the test. He expressed his desire to race in the Nurburgring 24 Hours in the future.
Obtaining DMSB Permit and Preparing for GT3 Racing
Verstappen would need a DMSB permit to race on the Nordschleife, which might require him to work his way through the categories unless he receives special dispensation. He had prepared extensively for this test by doing “thousands” of laps in the simulator before arriving at the historic track.
Navigating Traffic and Enjoying the Experience
Verstappen found the traffic manageable during the test, having previous experience with similar conditions on the simulator. He enjoyed his time on the track and looked forward to more opportunities in the future.
