Formula 1 Star Max Verstappen Misses Media Day for Potential Baby Birth

The reigning Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen, is reportedly en route to Miami, as flight tracking data reveals his private jet departed from Nice, France. This move comes amid the rumors of his first child’s imminent arrival with partner Kelly Piquet.

Red Bull Confirms Verstappen’s Absence from Media Day

Moments ago, Red Bull Racing confirmed that Max Verstappen would not attend the media day ahead of the Miami Grand Prix weekend. The team’s statement read, “Max Verstappen will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby. All is well, and he will attend the track tomorrow for the race weekend. We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect towards the privacy of Max and his family.

With Verstappen now traveling to Florida, it’s plausible that the four-time champion and Piquet have welcomed their baby. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the birth of their child. These events strongly hint at the arrival of their firstborn.

The Couple’s Family Expansion

Although this is their first child together, Piquet already has a daughter named Penelope from her previous relationship with former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat. Verstappen has taken on the role of a “bonus dad” for Penelope, while Piquet and Kvyat co-parent.

The couple has yet to reveal the gender of their baby, but recent hints suggest they are expecting a girl. A pink-themed baby shower, held on Verstappen’s new yacht, seems to confirm this speculation.

Verstappen’s Approach to Fatherhood and Racing

Previously, Verstappen has expressed that he won’t alter his racing approach upon becoming a father. He stated, “Honestly, I have done it already, so it is not like it is completely new for me. Now it is my DNA, let’s say it like that, but I think it is absolutely fine and I know the baby will be in good hands anyway. So for me, you focus on your racing and then go back to your family.

Verstappen has also confirmed that he won’t take a break from racing, nor does he plan to take a year off. He further stated that he hopes his child won’t follow in his footsteps as a racing driver, expressing, “Well, if he or she wants to do it and I see that there is talent I would support it, of course, naturally. But I really hope not! No pressure, just live your life.

Future Plans for the Miami Grand Prix

Motorsport understands that Verstappen was always scheduled to attend the Miami Grand Prix, and with his jet now on its way, we can expect more updates soon.
