Martin Brundle Honored with OBE for Services in Motor Racing and Sports Broadcasting

In a grand ceremony at Windsor Castle, the esteemed sports broadcaster and former Formula 1 driver, Martin Brundle, was bestowed with an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). The recognition came for his exceptional services to motor racing and sports broadcasting.

A Heartfelt Thank You from Martin Brundle

Overwhelmed by the prestigious honor, Brundle took to social media to express his gratitude. He wrote, “I received this very special award in a spectacularly beautiful setting from HRH Prince of Wales today on behalf of my family and friends, everyone who created and operated any racing car I drove, and everybody who has been part of creating and transmitting any Formula One broadcast I’ve been fortunate to be part of. Sincere thanks to all of you who have shared the journey with me so far.

During an interview with Sky Sports News, Brundle reflected on the recognition, stating, “It made me feel very lucky and very privileged because always something like this, you receive on behalf of an awful lot of other people because either they were designing and creating and fixing my racing cars, or working with us in the broadcasting industry.” He further added, “You can’t do anything on your own at the level of Formula 1. I’ve been very lucky to have two careers in F1 as a driver and a broadcaster, which this award has been presented for.

When the letter announcing the honor arrived just before Christmas, Brundle was ecstatic.

A Tireless Supporter of Motorsport and a Brilliant Voice

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali released a statement, praising Brundle as a “brilliant voice” of the sport. He said, “Huge congratulations to Martin Brundle on receiving his OBE for services to motor racing and to sports broadcasting. He has been a tireless supporter of motorsport and constant presence and brilliant voice to all our fans over many years.
