Lewis Hamilton’s Miami Sprint Race Podium and Ferrari’s Progress
After a surprising victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton secured another podium finish in the Miami sprint race. Despite a challenging few weeks, Hamilton managed to join Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri on the podium following a timely tyre change.
A Timely Tyre Change Leads to Podium Finish
Struggling on the intermediates, Hamilton made a bold move by pitting for soft tyres ahead of those in front of him. This decision triggered a series of stops and, amidst the chaos of crashes and spins, he drove through to take third place.
Speaking after the race, Hamilton expressed his relief at the result, stating that he was “going nowhere” on the intermediates before deciding to take the risk and pit for soft tyres. He also congratulated McLaren on their victory and acknowledged that qualifying had not been promising.
Ferrari’s Progress and Future Goals
Hamilton called the surprise podium a catalyst for better performance from Ferrari, urging the team to keep pushing to improve. He believes that they are not yet extracting the full potential of the car and that there are several elements that need to be elevated in order to compete more consistently at the front.
Hamilton remains optimistic about Ferrari‘s future prospects, stating that “every moment counts” and that they can achieve better results with continued hard work. He also acknowledged that they have made changes since China but emphasized that there is still more to be done in order to compete consistently at the front.
