Lando Norris Aims to Outmaneuver Max Verstappen in Miami Grand Prix

British racer Lando Norris is gearing up for a strategic move against Max Verstappen at the start of Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix. Despite a setback in qualifying, Norris remains optimistic about his chances to challenge Verstappen, especially if he can’t pass him at Turn 1.

Qualifying Mishap Derails Norris’ Progress

In qualifying, a misstep at Turn 17 hampered Norris’ progress, failing to overturn Verstappen’s advantage, primarily built in the opening sector. After qualifying, Norris expressed his readiness for the challenge at Turn 1, as he starts from second, potentially securing the inside line for the initial corner.

The three DRS zones and increased concentration of hard braking zones should provide ample overtaking opportunities, unlike the struggles faced in passing Verstappen at Suzuka, where low degradation and few passing maneuvers characterized the race.

Norris Expects Tough Competition

Norris anticipates competition not only from Verstappen but also from Kimi Antonelli and Oscar Piastri, who have shown impressive performance throughout the weekend. Thus, he is prepared for a challenging race on Sunday.

Following a difficult pair of races in Bahrain and Jeddah, Norris’ positive outlook over the Miami weekend offers hope, despite losing pole to Verstappen.

Preparation and Progress in MCL39

Ahead of the weekend, Norris spent time in the McLaren simulator, feeling content with his progress in adapting to the MCL39, which he has often stated doesn’t align with his preferred driving style. Despite missing out on pole, Norris remains satisfied with his performance and the steps forward he has made.
