Kimi Antonelli Joins F1 Drivers’ WhatsApp Group, Remains Low-Key for Now

Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli has become the latest addition to the exclusive F1 drivers’ WhatsApp chat group. However, he’s not making a big splash yet, choosing instead to observe and learn from his peers before contributing. “I’m the least active, actually,” he told Motorsport.com.

Antonelli’s Role in the Group Chat

As a newcomer, Antonelli is keeping a low profile, focusing on listening and learning rather than interacting much. He revealed that George Russell and Carlos Sainz Jr., who are in charge of the GPDA and admins of the group chat, are the most active members.

Kimi Antonelli’s Netflix Documentary

Antonelli is also making waves outside the track with his new documentary, produced by WhatsApp in partnership with Netflix. The 45-minute film, titled “The Seat,” premieres on Monday and offers a unique glimpse into the private conversations that led to Toto Wolff’s decision to promote him after Lewis Hamilton’s departure from the team.

Filming for the documentary began during Antonelli’s first test with the team, but he was only informed about it later in the year. The film will include private texts and phone conversations related to work, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the world of Formula 1.
