Legendary F2001 Ferrari Up for Auction at Monaco’s Paddock Club
Get ready for a historic moment as Michael Schumacher’s championship-winning F2001, chassis 211, makes its grand return to the streets of Monaco! This iconic car, which clinched victory on the Municipality’s streets in 2001 with Schumacher at the wheel, will be auctioned off at the prestigious RM Sotheby’s event on May 24, 2025. The auction takes place ahead of qualifying for the legendary Monaco Grand Prix.
A Car with Unparalleled Significance
This car holds immense importance in the annals of Formula One history. It was the vehicle that carried Schumacher to his final win at the iconic street circuit, and it also clinched him victories at the Hungarian Grand Prix and, consequently, the championship in 2001. This marked Schumacher’s second championship with Ferrari and the Italian team’s 11th as a constructor. Their dominance was staggering: they finished 58 points ahead of McLaren‘s David Coulthard, who came in second.
The season began with strong wins at Australia and Malaysia, and it became one of Schumacher’s most dominant seasons despite a solid challenge from Coulthard and even his brother, Ralf Schumacher. While the driver’s performance was unquestionable, the car was also potent. Powered by an optimized 900 bhp 3.0-litre V10 Tipo 050 engine and boasting strong aerodynamics, it was also incredibly reliable. By the end of the season, the car had solidified its place in Ferrari‘s golden era.
A Record-Breaking Auction
When the F2001, chassis number 211, was auctioned in 2017, it fetched an astonishing $7,504,000. It became the first Formula One car to exceed $5 million at auction, and it is expected to command an even higher value in 2025.
A Glimpse into Schumacher’s Life
While the F2001 returns to the spotlight, Schumacher has remained outside of the public eye since he sustained a brain injury in December 2013. Updates on his condition have come few and far between, with his family maintaining strict privacy around his health.
A Cause Close to Our Hearts
A percentage of the profits from this historic auction will be donated to the Keep Fighting Foundation.
