The iconic Mickey Mouse and other globally recognized figures are set to star in Formula 1 “experiences, content, and merchandise,” according to a statement released on Monday night by F1’s chief commercial officer, Emily Prazer.
This collaboration, Prazer explained, is mutually beneficial for both enterprises. “Our partnership with Disney is poised to be a remarkable one, as we introduce the world of Mickey & Friends to our fans, and vice versa,” she said. The deal aligns perfectly with F1’s strategy to expand beyond the realm of sports and into a broader consumer market. In return, Disney gets introduced to F1’s 820 million fans worldwide.
Disney’s consumer products president, Tasia Filippatos, hinted at a fan-centric partnership. “As we celebrate nearly a century of Mickey Mouse & Friends, our collaboration with Formula 1 offers a unique opportunity to bring two powerhouse entertainment properties together to create products that fans will adore,” she said. The exciting collaboration will unfold on a global stage, offering unforgettable content and experiences tailored for both Disney and F1 enthusiasts alike.
It’s important to note that the specifics of the deal remain scarce at this time. However, with ESPN, a part of the Walt Disney Company, currently broadcasting F1 in the US, it will be interesting to see how this partnership evolves, especially considering that the existing deal between Disney and F1 expires in 2025.
