Aston Martin CEO Discusses Ongoing Issues with AMR25 and Team Performance

In an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, Aston Martin CEO Andy Cowell has confirmed that there is still a significant list of tasks to address some issues with the AMR25. Lance Stroll has managed to secure 10 points for the Silverstone outfit over the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix weekends, but team-mate Fernando Alonso remains at the bottom of the drivers’ standings following retirements in Melbourne and Shanghai.

Aston Martin’s Midfield Struggles and Prioritizing Improvements

Speaking to the media, Cowell elaborated on the tight midfield competition, stating, “The midfield is exceptionally tight, and it moves around sector to sector and lap to lap, which shows that optimizing our car setup could move us plus or minus two places.” He emphasized the need to put in a lot of effort to ensure optimal performance during the race weekend.

Cowell also highlighted the importance of qualifying performance and shared his thoughts on areas for improvement within the team, stating, “There are always many areas to work on, each providing a small contribution to the game we’re trying to achieve.” He concluded that they need to focus on improving everything possible and distribute resources accordingly.

When asked about specific issues, Cowell explained that prioritizing is crucial and that there are multiple areas requiring attention. He mentioned that improvements made over the winter have been positive, but there is still a long list of things to work on.

Aston Martin’s Constructors’ Standings and Upcoming Challenges

With Stroll’s 10 points, Aston Martin currently sits in seventh place in the constructors’ standings behind Haas in sixth with 14 points. As the team continues to work on improving their performance, they will face numerous challenges in the upcoming races.
