Mercedes Driver Shares Initial Thoughts on Forthcoming F1 Film
Mercedes Formula 1 driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, has shared his initial thoughts on the upcoming F1 movie following a private screening attended by several drivers and team members ahead of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Driver’s Impressions of the Movie
The Italian rookie found the movie to be impressive, despite its length. “I think it was pretty cool,” Antonelli said after the screening. “It’s going to be a really cool movie for everyone around the world.” He praised the film’s engaging storyline as well.
Joining the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and his team-mate George Russell at the event in Monaco, Antonelli was one of many who got a sneak peek of the film before its global release on 25 June this year.
The F1 Movie – A Unique Production
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and with significant input from Hamilton, the movie promises some of the most authentic Formula 1 cinematography ever seen on the silver screen. The production team integrated themselves into several Grand Prix weekends, creating a unique filming environment.
The APXGP team was given their own garage, cars, and paddock space, allowing for real-world race weekend environments to be captured on camera, enhancing the spectacle of the movie.
Antonelli’s Film Experience – The Seat
Antonelli isn’t new to the world of cameras, having been featured in his own documentary titled ‘The Seat’. Available on Netflix, the production chronicles Antonelli’s journey through the motorsport ranks before his promotion to the Mercedes F1 team.
At 18 years old, he is the third youngest driver to debut in F1 and became the youngest (sprint) pole sitter at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. Despite his youth, Antonelli has already made a significant impact on the racing world.
