Alex Albon’s Stellar Performance at Miami Grand Prix
Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports reporter Martin Brundle has hailed Alex Albon as being “in the form of his life” following the Miami Grand Prix. The Grove outfit secured another double points finish, with Albon crossing the line in fifth position, and team-mate Carlos Sainz finishing in ninth, earning a total of 12 points for the team.
Williams’ Impressive Points Haul in 2025
Interestingly, Williams has already accumulated more points in 2025 than they did in the entire 2024 season. Brundle praised Albon’s performance, stating, “Fifth would fall to Alex Albon with another excellent and feisty race.” He further analyzed Sainz’s race, noting his few adventures and damage from first lap contact with his team-mate.
Despite the VSC pit stop timing frustrations and ending up behind the two Ferraris, including Lewis Hamilton’s car after an ambitious attempt to run up the inside, no further action was taken on either driver for the contact. They were deemed equally at fault for the ‘avoidable contact.’
Albon’s Reflections on Miami Grand Prix
Albon expressed his satisfaction with his fifth-place finish and the pace of FW47 at the Hard Rock Stadium. He acknowledged the struggle with engine temperatures but was pleased to have passed Sainz early in the race. Albon believed a P4 was possible if not for the VSC, which he considered fortunate for George Russell.
Albon also shared his excitement about seeing the podium and being able to keep Max Verstappen and George Russell within his vision throughout the race without a Safety Car. He attributed this to the progress Williams is making. Despite the track suitability, Albon was clearly pleased with the team’s performance.
