Historic Moment for Andrea Kimi Antonelli as He Takes Pole in a Rain-Soaked Miami Grand Prix

In an exciting turn of events, the Miami Gardens circuit witnessed a historic moment during the qualifying rounds for the sprint race. Mercedes rookie, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, set a record-breaking lap time, not only securing pole position but also becoming the youngest driver ever to take pole in any format of Formula 1 racing.

Rain Plays Spoilsport for Some Drivers

The qualifying session was marked by heavy rainfall, which caused a few mishaps. One such incident involved Charles Leclerc, who unfortunately crashed out on his way to the grid. Leclerc reported aquaplaning, which resulted in damage to his tyres and debris on the track.

Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc’s teammate, expressed concerns over the radio about the team sending both drivers out on the intermediate compound. Despite the setback, Leclerc was supposed to start from sixth on the grid.

Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull was another driver affected by the rain. He will start the sprint race from the pitlane, having been eliminated in the first round of qualifying on Friday.
