Formula One Star Max Verstappen Discusses His New Life as a Dad
After the joyous arrival of his baby girl, Lily, earlier this week, Max Verstappen has given his first interview since becoming a father. His long-term girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, announced the birth of their daughter on Friday morning. The Red Bull driver made it back to the States just in time for practice after skipping media duties in Miami and landing late Thursday night.
Verstappen Spends Quality Time with Family
Luckily, I got to spend a few days with them once she was born,” he told ESPN. “It’s been great. You never really know what to expect, but it’s been very enjoyable and very special.
When asked about his preparation for his new role as a girl dad, Verstappen mentioned that he has already gained experience with parenting, having helped care for Piquet’s daughter Penelope. “I’m kind of like a bonus dad already with my girlfriend having a daughter,” he said of the five-year-old, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat.
Verstappen also shared that he plans to continue gaming as his parental duties increase. “I think that will work out. Who knows, maybe in the future we can do it together,” he said. Everyone approaches parenting differently, and Verstappen is no exception.
Couple Shares Heartfelt Instagram Post
Just a few hours after confirming Lily’s birth on Instagram, the couple shared a heartwarming message along with a photo of the trio in the hospital. “Welcome to the world, sweet Lily. Our hearts are fuller than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you so much,” they wrote.
As Max Verstappen embarks on this new chapter of his life, fans eagerly await updates on his journey as a father and his continued success in Formula One.
