Limited Edition White Race Suit by PUMA: A Homage to Scuderia Ferrari’s Racing Legacy
Get ready, racing enthusiasts! The latest addition to your Ferrari merchandise collection is here – the Limited Edition White Race Suit by PUMA. This exclusive apparel is not just a fashion statement but a tribute to Scuderia ‘s rich racing heritage.
A Look Back at Ferrari’s White Overalls
The tradition of wearing white overalls in Ferrari racing dates back to the late 70s when Jody Scheckter, a renowned driver, first donned them. Reflecting his personal sponsor, Brooklyn chewing gum, Scheckter’s white and blue suit marked his debut with the team in 1979.
Following Scheckter, Gilles Villeneuve, another legendary Ferrari driver, switched to all-white overalls when he adopted the new fireproof Simpson Nomex suit. This change was significant as the suit only came in white. Villeneuve’s white overalls made their debut on the podium at their first race in France, and Scheckter soon followed suit for the rest of the year.
Together, these drivers helped Ferrari clinch the World Constructors’ Championship by the end of the season. The white overalls remained a part of ‘s racing attire for three more seasons, with notable drivers like Didier Pironi, Patrick Tambay, and Mario Andretti sporting them.
However, Ferrari returned to red overalls in 1983 and continued with this color scheme for the next 12 years. It was only when Michael Schumacher joined the team in 1995 that white overalls made a comeback. Interestingly, Schumacher wore unbranded white overalls for his first run as he was not yet an official team member at that time.
The Return of White Overalls and the Latest Collection
Fast forward to 2023, Ferrari created a one-off white overall for Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc in Monaco. This special edition featured red shoulders and accents echoing the colors of the Monegasque flag. Meanwhile, teammate Carlos Sainz remained in red overalls.
Now, PUMA has announced the latest all-white race suit and a special edition F1 apparel collection inspired by it. The new release combines the thrill of the racetrack with the iconic appeal of football apparel. It draws inspiration from the clean accent color of the seasonal 2025 Scuderia Ferrari HP F1 car livery, particularly the engine cover, while also nodding to the heritage of football away kits.
The exclusive F1 apparel collection will be available in limited quantities, making it a must-have for fans looking to own a piece of Scuderia Ferrari HP history. It is available at selected PUMA and stores, as well as online at puma.com and store.ferrari.com.
Leclerc and Hamilton will wear the White Miami Limited Edition replica garment, paired with an exclusive white PUMA race suit, gloves, and Speedcat Pro footwear, whose design gives a nod to a Miami GP special car livery.
