Albon vs. Bearman: The Unreleased Radio Messages from the Bahrain GP
The radio conversations between Williams driver Alex Albon and his race engineer James Urwin, following the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix, have been made public. These communications reveal Albon’s frustration with Haas rookie Ollie Bearman during their intense battle for points.
Albon’s Complaints About Bearman’s Driving
Throughout the Bahrain race, Albon found himself in a tight fight with Bearman. ‘The way he defends, Bearman, is too much,’ Albon expressed over team radio as he tried to overtake the Haas driver.
As the race progressed, Albon was pushed off the track and voiced his displeasure: ‘Yeah, then he ran me off again exit of 3. Very dangerous,’ he complained. A tense moment occurred on lap 39 when Albon attempted to pass Bearman with both drivers utilizing DRS ahead of Turn 4.
Albon’s Frustration and Bearman’s Reaction
Expressing his dissatisfaction, Albon said, ‘I think this guy wants to kill me,’ down his radio. ‘He’s so dangerous! James, you’ve got to do something, mate.’ Despite Albon’s complaints, Bearman managed to finish the race in 10th place, earning a point for the Haas team.
In contrast, Albon ended the race out of the points in twelfth position after losing a place to Andrea Kimi Antonelli. This was Albon’s first race outside the points this season, having finished 5th in Australia, 7th in China, and 9th in Japan.
Albon’s Reflections on the Race
After the race, Albon expressed his disappointment: ‘We had enough [for the top 10], we had more than enough to be honest,’ he said. ‘We were coming through the field really well on the hard tyre, we were about to go into a net P8 and then the Safety Car came out at the wrong time.’
Albon continued: ‘We then had to double stack both cars so I lost another two positions in the pit stop and then we were P12.’ He felt it was more of a missed opportunity than a difficult weekend.
Bearman’s Reaction to His Result
In comparison, Bearman was thrilled with his result. ‘Those last 20 laps after the Safety Car restart, I was under a lot of pressure trying to hold position with the Mercedes behind and trying to fight in front as well. It was a tough one, it was a really difficult race but so happy to bring home a point for the team after a really poor Qualifying yesterday.’
Despite the tense encounter between Albon and Bearman, both drivers demonstrated impressive racing skills during the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix. As the season continues, we can expect more exciting battles on the track.
