Ferrari Brings First Update Package of 2025 Formula 1 Season

The Italian racing powerhouse, Ferrari, has unleashed its first update package of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix. This latest move comes in response to a perceived lack of pace so far this year, with both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton expressing the need for upgrades to compete with McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes after the Japanese Grand Prix.

Ferrari’s SF-25 Gets a New Floor for Enhanced Performance

In an attempt to inject more performance into its SF-25, Ferrari has addressed its underbody design, focusing on finding more downforce. This extensive update encompasses all elements of the floor, with modifications made to the front floor fences and the leading edge of the floor body. The team’s pre-event technical notes suggest that these changes aim to reduce losses traveling downstream.

Additionally, changes have been made to the floor edge wings, while the rear of the floor has also been addressed with a reprofiled expansion zone into the diffuser. The reshaped boat-tail and tunnel expansion have also been optimized, along with the floor edge loading and vorticity shedding into the diffuser.

Other Teams Introduce Changes for Bahrain Grand Prix

Not to be outdone, McLaren and Red Bull have also introduced minor changes to their cars in Bahrain. The MCL39 has received a new front brake duct winglet aimed at improving overall aerodynamic performance through better flow conditioning. Red Bull’s front wing now features an option for a longer-chord upper element, ensuring balance with any of the higher-downforce rear wings.

Alongside Haas, Red Bull has also registered changes to meet the increased cooling demands of the Bahrain weekend. This includes a different set of cooling louvres to expel more heat from within the engine bay, while Haas has opened up the central outlet at the rear of its engine cover for similar purposes.

It is anticipated that many teams will open up their cooling louvre panels on the engine cover during the race weekend to prevent overheating of the powertrain.
