Lewis Hamilton Hints at New Edition of Tokyo Drift-style Video Series

Seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, has sent fans into a frenzy with his latest teaser. The British driver is set to release a new installment of his legendary Tokyo Drift video series, which first captivated audiences in 2022.

Hamilton’s High-Speed Adventures on the Streets of Tokyo

In 2022, Hamilton took to the bustling streets of Tokyo in a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. After finding an empty parking lot, the petrolhead in him couldn’t resist performing some donuts before the camera captured the smoke billowing from the gearbox. Despite sensing a potential issue with the car, Hamilton continued his high-speed escapade, exclaiming to his passenger, “Something isn’t right with this vehicle.

The following year, in 2024, during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, Hamilton once again took the wheel of another Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. The video opens beneath the iconic Tokyo Tower before Hamilton playfully takes the R34 for a spin around the Shuto Expressway and performs countless donuts under the street lights in yet another empty parking lot.

Although the rental company from 2022 was less than thrilled with the original video, Hamilton has now hinted at the return of this much-loved series. He shared a post featuring screenshots of the two previous videos and the stopwatch emoji, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming release. One fan wrote, “OMG! I look forward to this every year now!

Some were surprised that Ferrari was allowing Hamilton to continue his tradition. “I’m surprised are letting him do cool stuff like this. Fair play,” one fan commented. Another fan speculated, “I’m pretty sure he has something in his contract that explicitly allows him to do cool stuff like that. Same when he was at Mercedes and he could go skydiving and stuff.” However, this isn’t confirmed.

Hamilton Aims for Redemption on the Suzuka Circuit

Hamilton will be looking to redeem himself following his Chinese Grand Prix outing on the famous Suzuka Circuit in 2024. The incident saw both him and team-mate Charles Leclerc disqualified, resulting in a lost double points finish in fifth and sixth place respectively.
