Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Debut: A Nostalgic Journey Back to His McLaren Days

British racing legend Lewis Hamilton has drawn parallels between his upcoming Ferrari debut and his first race with McLaren during his rookie season in 2007. After a decade-long stint at Mercedes, where he clinched six of his seven championship titles, Hamilton is now gearing up for a new challenge at the Maranello outfit, alongside Charles Leclerc.

A Nostalgic Feeling: Akin to His McLaren Debut and Move to Mercedes

Speaking about his first race with Ferrari in Australia, Hamilton expressed that the experience feels more like his debut with McLaren than his move to Mercedes in 2013. He shared with the media, including Motorsport.com: “I’m very, very fortunate. I’ve had this amazing career here in Formula One, and starting with here in 2007 was an epic feeling, and then starting with a new team again with Mercedes was again, incredibly special. I think this is very reminiscent probably of my first year.”

Following in Vettel’s Footsteps: The Challenges Ahead

Hamilton follows in the footsteps of his former rival-turned-friend, Sebastian Vettel, who recently retired from Formula 1. Vettel, who spent time with Ferrari, highlighted the main difficulties that Hamilton will face during the switch. He explained: “It’s big. Anyone who changes team, it’s a big move. New people you work with is probably the biggest one. It’s a different culture. Obviously most of the teams are English, only two are Italian. That’s probably the biggest shift.”
