Stuart Codling’s Scruffy Mess Team
Stuart Codling, senior writer for ‘Team Moribund F1’, shares his team that appears to be a mix of compromises. He chose Ferrari due to their top-tier qualifiers in the business (with the caveat that Lewis Hamilton hasn’t been great in the ground-effect era) and Alpine because he needed an affordable option with a decent chance of scoring points.
Fabien Gaillard’s Value-for-Money Strategy
Fabien Gaillard, F1 Editor for Motorsport.com France, opted for a strategy based on team value rather than individual drivers. He selected Oscar Piastri as his leader due to the car’s perceived superiority and lower cost compared to Lando Norris. Liam Lawson is his gamble, but his Red Bull affiliation promises a place at the front of the pack.
Erwin Jaeggi’s Balanced Approach
Erwin Jaeggi, F1 journalist for ‘The Jaeggimeisters’, chose Max Verstappen as his lead driver due to his potential for the world title. Despite the financial implications of buying a high-priced driver, he believes Verstappen will consistently score big points. He also included Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso in hopes of occasional points, with Gabriel Bortoleto and Oliver Bearman completing his roster, allowing for adjustments if needed.
Mark Mann-Bryans’ Concern over Williams
Mark Mann-Bryans, F1 business correspondent for ‘MMB Racing’, selected Lando Norris as his number one driver due to his high potential. He took advantage of the multiple change opportunities before the weekend and swapped out Lawson and Alonso for Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Yuki Tsunoda, planning to make further adjustments before the deadline. His only concern is backing both Williams and Sainz, as pre-season testing pace might not be sustained in the opening rounds.
Norman Fischer’s Auto-Fill Strategy
Norman Fischer, F1 Editor for Motorsport.com Germany, opted for an auto-fill strategy but wasn’t satisfied with the initial lineup. After multiple attempts, he settled on Piastri, who he believes can perform similarly to Norris or Verstappen at a lower cost, and George Russell. He also included Alonso, Bearman, Esteban Ocon, and Haas as a one-team package, allowing him to afford a Red Bull as his second car.
